If there were one place you could call the
"center" of Paris, it would be Point Zero, right in front of Notre
Dame on L’île de la Cité. Point Zero is the loci from which all roads go, in
other words you can trace any road back linearly to this point. Point Zero was
created during Napoleon's reign, as he built routes (highways) out of the city.

Parisian Legend has it if you touch the Point you will have
good luck for a year, if you stand on the Point you will return to Paris in the
future. I suggest doing both, just to be thorough!
